On December 28, 2016, Agent’s with the Iron/Garfield/Beaver County Task Force received information Probationer Demetrius Louis has been selling large quantities of methamphetamine in the Cedar City area, and that he was in possession of a firearm.
Agent’s set up surveillance at the residence and witnessed a large volume of both vehicle and foot traffic coming and going from the house.
Task Force Agents contacted Adult Probation and Parole along with uniformed officers and made contact with Mr. Louis and his girlfriend at the home. Due to the information received and collected by Task Force Agents, a search of the residence was conducted. Agents and Officers located two handguns, one of which had been reported stolen from one of the local Volunteers In Policing. Agents also located 1.2 pounds of methamphetamine in individual one ounce packages.
In a subsequent interview, Louis admitted he had been transporting methamphetamine from California to Utah, and was being supplied by the Mexican Mafia. Louis stated he had the handguns for the protection of him and his family.
Louis was arrested on weapons and drug charges as well as probation violations. He is currently incarcerated at the Iron County Jail. His girlfriend was not charged. Their infant child was removed from their custody.
