San Juan County Drugs/Major Crimes Task Force
On 09/16/16 the San Juan County Drug/Major Crimes Task Force assisted Cortez Colorado PD Officers with a burglary case out of Cortez the night before. The vehicle that the suspects left in was located on the Navajo Reservation within San Juan County, with consent to search the car from the registered owner; exactly $39,200.00 was recovered out of $40,000.00, approximately $20,000.00 worth in marijuana edibles and 6 pounds of marijuana. One suspect was arrested and a warrant was been issued for the other.
On 09/29/16 The San Juan County Drug/Major Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on a home in Monticello Utah, the Task Force had been watching the particle house for some time for distribution of illegal drugs, though surveillance, informants and trash pulls we were able to develop enough probable cause for a search warrant. When the Task Force executed the search warrant we recovered 7 pounds of marijuana and another 5 ounces in marijuana seeds, meth residue and drug paraphernalia and stolen property.
On 10/01/16 the San Juan County Drug/Major Crimes Task Force held a Driver’s License/Sobriety Checkpoint near MP 119 on SR 191. San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Blanding Police Department, Monticello Police Department, Utah State Parks, & Utah Highway Patrol assisted the Task Force with the checkpoint. During the checkpoint we seized in excess of $50,000.00 dollars and recovered one stolen vehicle out of Iowa.
