On or about Jan 10, 2018 the Region V Adult Probation and Parole office put together an investigation into a Utah Department of Corrections Parolee who had been suspected of trafficking unlawful controlled substances between Nevada, Utah and Arizona. The agent of record had enacted with the parolee several times over several months, resulting in the parole being found using unlawful controlled substances. The agent of record continued to investigate even though the Utah Board of Pardons had not determined the continued unlawful drug use was substantial enough to revoke the parolee’s privilege to remain in the community. Through investigative tactics, high-tec surveillance and just good old-fashioned boots on the ground police work AP&P Agents located and isolated the parolee coming back from Arizona/Nevada on I-15 North in the early morning hours. With the assistance of the Washington County Drug Task Force and agents from Region V, Hurricane, Utah Office the parolee’s vehicle was followed to his residence in Washington County. Several vehicles and AP&P Agents (on foot), surrounded the parolee’s residence as he arrived in the driveway, preventing him from running, or fleeing in any manor. Information the parolee may have been seek a handgun was factored in; therefore, the appropriate level of force was implicated by all of the half-dozen or more officers/agents. As a result of the efforts of all participants, the parolee and three other people in the vehicle were arrested and charged with possession of unlawful controlled substances and outstanding warrants. In addition, the bonus was nobody was injured and only the show of force was implemented, due to the overwhelming presence and teamwork of law enforcement. Also, most importantly, a ‘FUGITIVE WALK AWAY from the FTC in Northern, Utah was in the vehicle and immediately apprehended among the four arrested. The efforts of the law enforcement team “cut-short” the crime spree of several people, especially the parolee and the fugitive apprehended that early morning hour in Washington, Utah. Great work guys; be safe always.
